Putting alcohol on the local authority map

Category: Excellence in Communication of Survey or Market Research Data

Client: Lundbeck

Ahead of the transfer of public health commissioning responsibilities to local authorities in April 2013, the launch of the online Alcohol Harm Map in partnership with Alcohol Concern provided hard-hitting and easily accessible figures on the harms and costs of alcohol misuse at a local level, and helped to raise its profile as a key issue for commissioners. Achieving significant media impact, with over 300 items of coverage and engagement from key political and statutory figures, the Alcohol Harm Map has since been included within a number of Joint Strategic Needs Assessments (JSNAs) and statutory guidance documents.

Category: Excellence in Product Communications

Client: Janssen

2011 saw the eagerly awaited introduction of a new class of treatment – protease inhibitors – for patients with genotype 1 hepatitis C infection. Janssen launched their protease inhibitor, INCIVO® (telaprevir), in October 2011, creating an important milestone for both patients and healthcare professionals in terms of offering a step change in treatment outcomes and the potential for shorter treatment times for many patients. Working closely with key stakeholders – including policymakers, HCPs and media – this integrated campaign not only met campaign objectives in successfully introducing INCIVO® (telaprevir), but consistently delivered above KPI targets.

Launch of INCIVO®

Category: Excellence in Media Relations

Client: Janssen

The advent of a new class of direct-acting anti-viral treatment for patients with genotype 1 hepatitis C infection provided an eagerly awaited milestone, for both patients and prescribers, in a disease area that had seen no major advance in the previous 10 years. As one of two medicines in a new treatment class, it was essential that the media launch for INCIVO® (telaprevir) provided clarity about the burden of the disease and what INCIVO® could offer patients. Working closely with key hepatitis C stakeholders, M&F embarked upon a highly targeted and innovative media strategy, consistently delivering above KPI targets.

National Transplant Week 2011

Category: Excellence in Media Relations

Client: NHS Blood & Transplant:

With over 7,500 people currently waiting for an organ, NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) wanted to use its annual Transplant Week to drive sign-ups to the Organ Donor Register. Entirely PR-led, the week needed to: make people think about organ donation; overcome a range of barriers to signing up – from fear to inertia; and increase the number of people actually signing up. PR achievements were: securing 179 articles across the week, including 18 national media hits; reaching 48% of the UK population and; critically, prompting over 11,000 people to join the register.
